Since losing our mom two years ago I’ve gained a greater understanding of just how difficult, and beautiful this week can be for so many of us. Saturday will mark two years without her in the traditional sense, which will make this our third Mother’s Day apart. For these reasons I have added gratitude for some of my closest friends joining me at a cabin in the woods last weekend.
Wherever we are — love is — and so shall those we love and have lost continue to be. I know it hurts, but that pain and process is evidence of their love’s continual evolution and emergence in our lives. I like to think that all of our mothers who we’re unable to hug, look in the eye, or reach by telephone this week will be shining down on us in sunshine form; helping us once more feel the warm embrace of their love.
