It wasn’t that long ago when most people didn’t know that I was a writer. We humans have this poor habit of doing what we need to do—so that we can do what we love—yet most of the time it’s what we love that gets lost along the way. Happiness is an inside job, and it’s likely that your work isn’t enough to make you happy. Some people think happiness is a convoluted concept (I am not one of them); so let us replace it with joy. There’s a reasonable chance that the means by which you pay bills doesn’t bring you sufficient joy. Thankfully, there’s a lot of hours in a day—and a myriad of ways for each of us to fill our cup with joy, and purpose. Purpose, or duty can be a significant factor in the realization of joy.
